<title>Mandatory Community Service == Slavery? (Trees And Things)</title>
<link>http://www.treesandthings.com/story/2008/11/8/51436/6864</link>
<description>Random thought: what is the difference between mandatory community service and slavery? &#160;I ask because part of the new President-elects announced plan is to expand the scope of mandatory community service for people attending school - something the outgoing administration had also supported. Should mandatory community service be seen as part of civic education or is it a way for the government to utilize cheap labor and exploit a child workforce? Perhaps both?</description>
