Maybe the climate didn't change, maybe it was you who changed. Sell out.
I feel guilty about my carbon load because I have to drive to work every day. The bus system just doesn't work for the route I have to take. I've been looking into the possibility of finding a diesel engine for my car when it comes to rebuild time, so I can run biodiesel, but that's not going to happen for a while.
In the meantime, I'm in the market for a small motorcycle or a 4-stroke scooter. 75 mpg would cut my commuter pollution to about a third.
I occassionally have to drive a shuttle van at work, and I have a policy of not running the AC. Most people accept it as one small thing that we can do to reduce our contribution to global warming (it's only a five minute drive) but one woman wrote a very sarcastic letter to my boss complaining about it. It kind of poisoned my attitude toward her...not that it affected my policy.
I've been lobbying to get a hybrid van for the shuttle, but the extra $10K it costs makes that unlikely to happen.
Shane, Do you see any problem with your statement that the UN report, which is not out yet, is expected to provide stronger evidence? It appears to me that you are acknowledging that the UN has already reached it's conclusion wrt climate change and just needs fill in the evidence. What is the point of the report then? In science this is referred to as gently massaging the data to fit the conclusion. If you are interested in it , I would recommend looking at climateaudit.org. I would start by reading the Monkton/Gore exchanges that are linked to there. I found them very interesting.

Also, I should note that I am in full support of all efforts to reduce pollution, use energy resources more efficiently and I do not work for an oil company.
