At perhaps one of the earliest possible dates on the calendar in political history the US Presidential candidates are starting to air their TV spots.
Although some candidates have already flooded online venues such as YouTube or their campaign sites with videos or varying quality, only three have run TV ads in Iowa. Mitt Romney (R), Bill Richardson (D), and now Barack Obama (D), with his latest commercials 'Carry' and 'Choices.'
Iowa is seen as a key contest in the presidential primary, which can make or break a candidates hopes for the nomination. Some candidates have already poured millions into this race, such as Mitt Romney with $4M in funds to build name recognition.
Although candidates have begun to shift funding to non-traditional sources in order to build recognition and woo potential votes early in the game. The arrival of campaign television ads a full 17 months before the general election suggests anybody with a television in America will have quite an aggravating time over the next year and a half, perhaps making them long for other systems where the official campaign cycle is much shorter.
