Any Other Candy Addicts Out There?

Well, I know there are plenty of chocolate junkies out there besides just me.

I'm also a sucker for Heath bars, Jelly Belly jelly beans (President Reagan's favorite), Reese's peanut butter cups, and I'm only getting started.

How about some old-fashioned candy, the stuff you ate when you were a kid, but can still find if you look in the right places.

Gummi Bears. Laugh all you want, they were something of a salvation for me when I was undergoing oral cancer treatment.

Mike & Ikes are up there as well.  Jujubees are sooner or later going to pull all of the fillings out of my teeth, but I love 'em.

What's your poison (er, I mean candy)?

I crave Mallow cups. I haven't had one in years...they don't get marketed much outside of Pennsylvania, unfortunately.

Ah, my friend, thanks to this internet thing-a-ma-jigger, you can find Mallow Cups online and have them shipped right to you door.  I buy lots of things that I can't find locally.  Candy, food, wine, many things.  Whatever it is, it's just a few clicks away.

there's only one way to find out...

I don't know that I was ever a candy addict but I did used to really get into the snickers and the peanut m&m's. My life is much better without it all, though, and I haven't really looked back. There's the health issues and the cutting out the sugar to keep my daily energy levels more stabilized but I also just don't have anything of a sweet tooth anymore.

It is easy to buy small plaster models of what you think life is like.

Apparently I need my sugar with a side of fat.  The only candy I really like is chocolate or Reese's.  (Favorite candy of all time: the orange Reese's pieces they put in a carrot-shaped bag at Easter.  Somehow, they just taste better than normal Reese's pieces!)  For the most part, gimme a cookie or a piece of cake instead of candy and I'll be happier.

My husband is the opposite; he likes his sugar straight up.  His favorites are Runts, Alexander the Grapes (now called Grapeheads) and Nerds.  He's been known to finish off a box (more or less, depending on the box size) in one sitting.  Runts and Grapeheads are now hard enough to find that I usually just buy him a few cases online for special occasions.

That's my preference as well, and when I do go for a candy it's often some sort of candy/baked-good hybrid like a chocolate-covered graham cracker or chocolate-covered pretzels.

I had a houseguest recently who left behind some cinnamon-flavored Jolly Ranchers.  I haven't had those for years and probably won't re-stock but I've been enjoying the leftovers when I want an occasional sugar hit.

Me too.

Candy just doesn't do it for me.

Homemade cookies, on the other hand....heaven.
