I'd like to congratulate our favorite mayor on his 300th submission.  I think I can speak for us all when I say he has the thanks of a grateful internet discussion forum.

Seriously, I hadn't realized it was that many.  Relevant to one of your poll questions, although I bowled for many a year a perfect game always eluded me.  I haven't picked up a bowling ball in about five years so this 300 will have to suffice.

At any rate, as long as it continues to give me pleasure to write them up, I will continue to do so.  BTW, you're not doing that shabby in the submission department.

I always loved bowling. As a kid I used to have my birthday parties at bowling alleys. Nothing says awesome happy birthday fun like the fright some 80 year old pin jockey's leathery face induces in screaming 4th graders when he comes over to wish a joyous celebration on behalf of the lane management and snack bar holdings corporation.

I even got a bowling shirt with famous pop culture references in college. A friend of mine (who even had some felon's monographed bowling set) and I used to go hit up the lanes frequently. Then I ended up dating somebody who turned out to be a league bowler and the allure faded for some reason. Yeah.

Now I hardly ever go. When I do I usually score like 57 points (or as they say in bowling lingo "pins"). Quite sad for somebody who once maxed out at like 230. Maybe someday I'll return to the lanes if I can go with John Goodman or Jeff Bridges. I'd even settle for a sidekick named Liam.

The latest GBO report states that the 2009 federal deficit is estimated to reach $1.2 Trillion (about 8.5% GDP, and almost tripling 2008's $455B deficit), but Obama wants to press ahead with another $750 Billion on a stimulus plan. That's about as much harm to the economy in one year as Bush accomplished in his last four. Hope and change!
