And The Lies Keep Coming

How is it that every piece of dirt on Obama I get in my email has been absolutely refuted, yet the speculation from 'lying bloggers' about Palin is not so cut and dried?

Of course Palin expects to be cleared if she gets her way and can choose her own people to investigate troopergate.  She's on record flip flopping her opinion of him, moving the state capital and the bridge to nowhere, which are we to believe?  We keep hearing it's Obama's people who are talking about Palin's daughter's pregnancy, yet when Democrats try to talk about other reasons not to elect Palin as VP, the Republicans bring the conversation back to the pregnancy and accuse them of sexism for questioning her qualifications.  It's as if the entire pregnancy revelation were designed to deflect attention from the real issue, which is her complete lack of qualifications for the position, her vindictive nature and tendency to abuse power.  Add in her fanatical religious views, and it's hard to imagine any of the PUMA crowd voting for her.

How thoroughly did McCain's people vet Palin?  Apparently, she wasn't even Miss Congeniality.

My guess is, the Obama smears will keep coming to your email and the GOP lie machine will keep cranking them out.

her complete lack of qualifications for the position

I find it astounding how many Democrats are willing to trumpet this line of reasoning against Palin. It's as if every single one of them has forgotten about John Kerry's choice of Vice Presidential candidate in 2004.

But hey, I'm a generous guy. I'll start to take that rationale seriously if presented from anyone who begins by stating, "I apologize for voting Kerry/Edwards in 2004; based on VP candidate experience, Bush and Cheney deserved to win that election." (Presuming, of course, they did support Kerry/Edwards.)

apologizing for voting

5.00 (interesting)

Hm. I didn't vote Kerry/Edwards (then again, there was no way I'd have voted for Bush/Cheney), but had my state been in contention, I would have indeed voted a Democratic presidential ticket.

My problem with Palin is that she has a greater than average chance of becoming president (like that recently cancelled Geena Davis show). This changes the calculus in that I want her qualified to be president -now- rather than being willing to give her time to get 'on the job' training experience.

Her recorded comments re: the pledge of allegiance makes me concerned that she is another candidate of truthiness; oblivious to objective reality. In my mind McCain has made a dangerous gamble -- Palin is by no means the best VP (president in waiting) that the republicans could have nominated. The consequences of the risk he's taking are so high, it gives me pause as to whether his judgment on national security is truly better than Obama.

Memory is a strange bell, jubilee and knell.

I guess I just look at it differently, wetkarma. The age thing doesn't worry me since I figure McCain has had the best health care money could buy for the past 28 years, and seems to be smart enough to step down after one term if it really hits him.

As for Palin's pledge comments, I just took that as ignorance. That's troubling, sure, but less so to me than the Obama Youth Corp talk which keeps coming out of the other side.

Not all Democrats say she is unqualified.  Quoth the Biden:  "First of all, I don't know the governor. There's no reason not to respect her and I believe she's qualified to be the vice president."

OK, then.  So, if McCain's judgment is questioned for even nominating her, does Biden's agreement that she is qualified to be VP draw his judgment into question as well?

What about all the Republicans panning her experience while they think their mic is off?

It is easy to buy small plaster models of what you think life is like.

I'd say it's worth about as much as all the African-American leaders panning Obama's blackness when they think the mic is off.

You should be more specific: What's in your email and to which bloggers' lies are you referring?

I took note that you mentioned that Palin didn't win the Miss Congeniality title the year she was runner up in the Miss Alaska contest.  To prove that point, you linked to a blog which, shall we just say, is a bit partisan and favorably disposed to Democrats.  Problem being is that either the blogger is lying or misremembers what happened.  You see, according to the pageant web site, Palin was Miss Congeniality that year.  Doesn't mean a thing regarding whether she was abusing her office in trying to get at her sister's ex or whether she was really in favor of Ted Stevens' little piece of pork.  It's just a small victory for truth over some blogger's bullshit is all.  For my part, this will probably be the last time I post on the topic of Sarah Palin and the tabloid blog-driven drivel being spouted for and against her.  At this point I am suffering from Palin exhaustion.

Illegitimi non carborundum.

No!  It was her DAUGHTER who won Ms. Congeniality!  Didn't you look at the photos?  The photos prove that Palin is not congenial at all.

Palin exhaustion here too...but I'd like to make a prediction.

A pitcher of fine beer says that there will be tears at some point during her debut tonight.

It's the end of the world as we know it, and I feel fine

That's a total sucker bet. Of course she will turn on the waterworks when she talks about the attacks on her family, and perhaps at a few other key points as well. You know this woman didn't get where she is without knowing how to work it from all angles.

I'm really tired of even hearing her name, personally. But I do believe that some of the left-wing bloggers have gone too far with the truly disgusting level of trash that has been floated, and may actually end up generating sympathy for Palin as a result.
