I am burned out

I worked 15 hours at a primary election polling station yesterday, and I am feeling it today.

I guess I'm getting old.  I certainly feel old, even though I was the second youngest person who was working the our station.

All in all, a fun day, despite the exhaustion.  The other workers were good people, we managed to follow the protocols, the turnout was good, and we got everything wrapped up in good order at the end of the day.

5.00 (funny)

At least you kept those capitalist pigs from interfering with the expression of the will of the people, eh, comrade?

Working in a campaign can be a very rewarding experience.

I, for one, am toying with the idea of being one of those idiots who stands 6" past the 200' from the polling area sign and harangues people to vote for their favorite mouthpiece.

I think it would be kind of neat, especially since most of the discussions in front of the polls consist of some greasy looking guy in a leather jacket going "Vote for Mr. X. Here's a piece of paper with his name written on it and what office he's running for." or "These people are the slate endorsed by <some union/party/poltical parasites>" Seldom ever any discussion of the issues.

One time I saw a candidate for councilperson at the polls. He was answering questions. He lost to somebody who promptly won and then thanked the unions for putting him in power on his official website.

Quality political discourse around here. So yeah. I'm kind of thinking about doing that just to see what the average voter thinks and to talk to people. Although I think I know how it will end up.

But, seriously, good for you for getting involved! We need more people to work as poll workers and make the process run smoothly.
