In the latest round of political violence in Thailand, rioters demanded the resignation of Thailand's Head of Government, Abhisit Vejjajiva.
The street fighting has resulted in gun battles which have already claimed their first lives. In a major escalation of relatively peaceful protests the city has suffered about 12 hours of chaotic rioting. The protesters are demanding an end to the four month old government of Prime Minister Vejjajiva, claiming he came to power illegally. The situation deteriorated over the weekend to the point where observers wonder who controls the military.
Other nations around the world urged their citizens to avoid the afflicted areas until the situation calms down.
