Actually, I just had some work up north that required almost all of my time and attention for the last month. Things should be back to normal shortly. I've even submitted one article about France's election, and would have submitted one about Gary Johnson winning Libertarians' nomination if someone hadn't beaten me to it.

5.00 (informative)

I sent Novy a private message the other day wondering if he was still around.  He said he's had some temporary work that's kept him busy but should be back soon.

I was surprised that anyone noticed my absence, but I was certainly pleased that you and even improper noticed. Thanks.

I miss how he would always say "your president" or "your congress" as if I personally installed them or something like that.

It was kind of the political, formal version of "You people."

America! I could teach you, but I'd have to charge.

I suppose I could say "America's President" or "US Congress", but then it wouldn't sound like I was blaming everyone for American politics, and we can't have that, now can we?

Well when you say "your president" it makes it sound like you are blaming solely me for all the world's problems. And that's not what I'm about.

America! I could teach you, but I'd have to charge.

I would love to take responsibility for all the world's problems, just so that no one else would have to.

FWIW, I really do mean "America's" when I write "your" president or Congress rather than you personally. I think it would be laughable to blame you personally for much of anything your government does. I mean, for much of anything America's government does. (See, "your government" in this context would not mean Your Highness pO157's ministers and advisors, but rather your country's government, and would be meant to add without saying so directly "but not mine".)

Anyway, when you guys start letting me vote in your elections, I will stop referring to "your" public officials.

Are your governors still appointed by a queen?

Ostensibly, although "governor" in Canada doesn't mean what it would mean to you. Still, if you referred to one of Elizabeth II's appointees as "your governor", I wouldn't think I was being blamed for his/her selection.
