Summertime. Summertime. Sum, Sum, Summertime.

It's the beginning of the vacation season, except for you slackers who've been unemployed for the past 90-some weeks.  Time to pack up and head on out.  The question being will you be traveling by air, bus, car, rail, or the high seas?

No matter where you go or what you do, remember -- plenty of sunscreen and don't pass out drunk in the midday sun.  Return safe and share your summer adventure.

I think I'll opt for a staycation.

5.00 (informative)

Just finishing a week of glorious late mornings, cocktail-filled evenings, movies and videogames. Sometimes the best relaxation comes from the minimal effort solution.

For the record: both Moonrise Kingdom and Safety Not Guaranteed are astoundingly good little films. If the latter especially doesn't become a sleeper hit for every guy trying to date a geek/gamer girl, this world knows no justice.

Will have to check out safety not guaranteed. Saw moonrise kingdom today and it was excellent. Not little miss sunshine excellent but better than royal tennenbaums and more than worthwhile.

I HAD HAD SEX WITH HUNTER S THOMPSON. HE CAME IN MY MOUTH AND I SWALLOWED IT. I SHOULD HAVE HAD HIS BABY. WE WOULD BE BALLIN' LIKE KOBE'S SON!!

Summer as an Alaskan Internet Tough Guy:

Expected work week starting Thursday July 5th:  84+ hours.  I will probably have Labour Day off, but aside from that particular Monday, I'll be working from 6AM to 7PM every day of every week until Columbus Day, and then again until December 1st.  The Frontier Adventure(TM), it is a thing.

Luckily for me, I've got some last-gasp vacation upcoming:  from Saturday night the 30th until the last flight out on the night of Wednesday the 4th, I'll be in Seattle with my (gasp!) special lady friend.  I don't want to alarm anyone, but I think this bird is going to settle for me.  In 2015.  FINALLY.

Returned last week from our annual pilgrimage to Nags Head, NC. The entire extended clan decamps to a large beach house there each June, where various and sundry beach-ish activities take place. The grandkids play in the sand, the "kids" (late teens through late 20s) like to surf, while my wife and I generally like to oversee said activities from the deck while consuming moderately large quantities of alcohol and even larger quantities of fresh local seafood.

I'll take my gin and tonic with a little sand in it any day.

[I'm not that guy.]

Saw Metallica on Sunday @ the Orion Festival, was pretty damn awesome.

I usually try to make a trip to Canada at least once during the summer. Either Toronto or Montreal but I don't think that will be possible this year, unless it happens in late August.

Most of my vacationing this summer will be spent close to home on a boat and of course at the local waterfront bars.
