If you thought the race card had been retired from the deck of 2008 political playing cards after that blow up over Senator John McCain's (R - AZ) reaction to Senator Barack Obama's (D - IL) reaction to McCain's celebrity internet ad, think again. This time former Vermont governor, presidential candidate and primal scream enthusiast, Howard Dean, inadvertently (or advertently) introduced the issue again.

Although technically not a a sanctioned debate, nor an actual head to head matchup, Saturday night's forum in Orange County, California was the first time Senators Obama (D-IL) and McCain (R-AZ) answered questions on the same stage since becoming the presumptive nominees of their parties.

It's normal for presidential campaigns to attempt to paint the opposition as misguided, inept, inexperience and unready to lead the nation. You'll even find campaigns seeing fit to paint opponents as reckless ideologues who would bring on nuclear annihilation. Or they'll be cast as reckless ideologues who would release dangerous sociopaths amongst us. But, it's pretty rare to find instances of campaigns who will come out and essentially charge the opposition with being in league with the devil. That, however, is what the Obama camp is accusing the McCain campaign of doing - by running an internet spot implying that Barack Obama is the anti-Christ.

Smallish art gallery in major city wants to promote an exhibition. They get the brilliant idea to commission one of the artists to draw a very large mural on the side of a downtown building. The openly political mural is considered by many to be a thought-provoking and intriguing piece of art.

Hillary Clinton says she's in it "until a nominee is selected." The numbers are stark and they weigh against her. In order for her to win she needs to sweep up almost all the remaining delegates (superdelegate and pledged by primary vote). This is an impossibility. Therefore, the only thing she can accomplish by not bowing out is to possibly deny Senator Barack Obama a first ballot win and hope she might be able to win on a subsequent ballot. Despite the dismal prospects, Clinton continues to soldier on.

They really ought to add one more thing to those two certainties in life (death and taxes) - Congressional pork. Because, here it is 2008, the second session of the 110th Congress, and Congressmen and Senators are still inserting self-serving items into the federal budget. Back when budget earmarks were only costing the US taxpayer millions rather than billions of dollars, the projects were quietly slipped into the budget and funded.
