Kimber VanRy believes the police in Brooklyn ought to have better things to do. He doesn't have a problem with them being on patrol and available to protect law abiding citizens from assault and what not. But he believes they may have stepped over a very broad line in doing what they did to him on August 27th. Because that's the date he was handed a summons to answer up in court for drinking in a public place. He's especially torqued at the notion because the public place where he was drinking was his front stoop.

An explosion rocked famous Times Square at 3:45am this Thursday morning. After the dust and smoke cleared it became clear the target was the military recruiting center located in the glitzy crossroads.

The trailers for the movie have been all over the place. On the internet, in heavy rotation on the tube and as part of the prep time for the movie of your choice at your local Cineplex - if you don't know Cloverfield is about to happen, you've been asleep. What seems apparent is that it's loud and makes use of special effects with a vengeance. What's not for sure is whether it's a good movie or not. One thing for sure is it features destruction visited upon New York City. But, there's nothing new about that - there's a proud tradition to destroying the Big Apple. The question is, why is New York such a tempting film target?

Wars are rarely won in one fell swoop. They must be won battle by battle. As it is in combat, so it goes in civil rights. Recently, another battle was won in the battle to gain dignity and civil rights for transgendered people in the Big Apple. The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) reached a settlement allowing a transgendered person to use the ladies room where she works.
