Anyone who's spent any time on the internet knows the world is made up of three types of people. The first two types are those who use proper grammar in expressing themselves and those who don't. The third type is commonly referred to as a Grammar Nazi. Drifting from chat rooms to discussion sites, they jump all over misspellings, faulty diction, or violations of basic rules of grammar. Many people are less than appreciative of the Grammar Nazi's attention, hence the name. But, some people appreciate that Grammar Nazis sometimes are right and have their place. The New York Times gives their in-house Grammar Nazi a podium from which to operate.

At a press conference in Barcelona on Monday, European fertility scientists announced a plan to bring cheap in-vitro fertilization procedures to Africa. The procedure, which has in the past been successfully used on farm animals, runs about $200. Current "best practices" human IVF procedures cost up to $10,000 in the West.

Kid Rock has been called many things over his career but champion of the people was probably not one of them. Now, however, he's taken a page out of the Abbie Hoffman book of self promotion by encouraging his fans to "Steal Everything," even downloads of his own tunes, since he's "rich enough."

Barry Bonds In Boston: Bombing Balls Or Just Plain Bombing?

As the 2008 Major League Baseball (MLB) season opened there was one name conspicuously absent from every line-up card. That name would be Barry Bonds. The man who had just eclipsed Hank Aaron as the all time home run king in the sport would, the very next year, be unsigned and apparently unwanted by any club in the sport. There were allegations that there might be some sort of conspiracy aimed at keeping Bonds out of the game he had played so superbly for two decades. It's quite possible that Bonds will be in the line-up of a major league team soon. But he won't be suiting up for just any team though, due to an injury to one of their key players, the reigning World Series champion Boston Red Sox could view Bonds as a crucial addition to help them on towards their second straight world championship.

In Slate magazine's "Human Nature" column, William Saletan argues that societal constraints against incest, polygamy, and homosexuality all have roughly the same roots, and that those reasons are becoming less and less compelling in modern society.
