In the wake of its boredom with both the death of Anna Nicole Smith and the homophobic comments of a former NBA star, the American media has gone rabid yet again -- this time turning its unmuzzled fear mongering on a rising star of the Tennessee Titans in the National Football League.

If it isn't a joke, perhaps the joke is on the media.  Because, for the second year in the past three, one of the leading lights in the business of reporting fake news has been named the "Media Person of the Year."  Steven Colbert was the winner of this year's title, succeeding 2005's winner, Anderson Cooper of CNN.  Jon Stewart of The Daily Show, was the winner in 2004.

I'd link to the actual opinion, but it is, as of today, still unavailable online - not even on Lexis-Nexis. Not only must the defendants in the suit stop their censorship, they must also turn over their inventory by July 12th for destruction. Interestingly, the decision affects not only the censoring companies, but also all companies and "persons in active concert or participation with" the defendants.

Watch enough television dramas and you see a pattern: One group of Americans, more than any other, is the source of most villainy in our world.  They lie, steal, rape, and murder, and rarely do anything good for society.  This group?  Businessmen.
